2026 – GONHS 50th Anniversary 50p Coin

This commemorative coin celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Gibraltar Ornithological and Natural History Society (GONHS), one of Gibraltar’s most important environmental organisations. Since 1976, the Gibraltar Ornithological and Natural History Society has been dedicated to the study and protection of Gibraltar’s wildlife, habitats and natural heritage, inspiring awareness and action for generations to come.

The reverse of the coin features a Black Kite in flight with the Trinity Lighthouse, Europa Point and a southern view of The Rock of Gibraltar in the background and the inscription 'GONHS 50th Anniversary'. The black kite or fire kite (Milvus migrans) is a medium-sized bird of prey in the family Accipitridae, which also includes many other diurnal raptors. The black kite is widely distributed through temperate and tropical parts of Eurasia and parts of Australasia and Oceania.

The obverse of this coin features the Coat of Arms of the Government of Gibraltar with the inscription 'Charles III - King of Gibraltar - 2026'.

Note: Each commemorative coin is in uncirculated condition and has been minted and packed in sealed bags of 50.
